Cranial Restructuring / Re: Palatal expansion and chewing question
« on: August 28, 2017, 05:32:48 pm »
It is the one on facepulling.com, made from the expander screw and acrylic.  So the mouthpiece will be an expander as well as for a headgear attachment, which I will wear overnight.  Would you recommend setting the headgear to pull the maxilla at 54 degrees, as shown in the diagram with monkey test subjects (http://www.facepulling.com/proof-moving-the-maxilla-is-possible-in-adults/)?

Cranial Restructuring / Palatal expansion and chewing question
« on: August 27, 2017, 05:25:15 pm »
I will be using a homemade removable bone-bound palatal expander, which I will wear every night for 9-14 hours and for the remainder of the day will practice proper tongue posture and chew for 1-2 hours to maintain and stabilize the expansion.  My desired expansion is 10 mm and I intend to attain maximum skeletal results, with high stability and minimal possibility of relapse.  How many times should I turn the expander screw per week for this?  Also is there a limit for how much expansion the mandibular teeth can compensate for?  Will there be a point that I cross which will result in a scissor bite?

Another question I have is that I occasionally bite my tongue when my molars miss the gum that I am chewing.  It is always the same spot as well, and because I am chewing with such high force, it results in immense pain, lots and lots of blood, and a sore, hurt tongue afterwards for days, making it also difficult to swallow and talk.  What causes this and how can I prevent this?

I am 17 years old, if that is relevant.

Cranial Restructuring / Ensuring Proper Growth In Children

What can one do from the birth of a child to ensure that this child grows to his/her complete genetic potential?

Cranial Restructuring / Removable Palatal Expander

What would happen if one were to only wear a palatal expander for 12-14 hours (overnight) and practice good tongue posture and/ or chew for the rest of the day (possibly maintaining the expansion).  I do understand that the results will probably take twice as long as they would normally, but can this still be effective for expanding the maxilla?

Cranial Restructuring / Re: Maxilla Overtaking Mandible
« on: August 15, 2017, 10:36:38 am »
Although I can't speak for the mandible catch up, I can safely say that the lower jaw does expand or tilt as the upper one gets wider. I have successfully expanded my maxilla by 7mm and the only moments I felt my teeth don't quite match was when I took out the expander after I had turned the screw. After doing some chewing, the problem was always fixed.

I'm currently testing a method I developed which pulls the maxilla up and forward during sleep, so hopefully I will be able to answer your question soon. I will let you know when I get some results.

Alright, thank you for your reply.  Would this method you're testing be headgear by any chance?

Cranial Restructuring / Maxilla Overtaking Mandible
« on: August 10, 2017, 09:19:46 pm »
When one pulls their maxilla up and forwards, using headgear, for example, will the mandible catch up, if the maxilla is already in a position forward relative to the mandible?  I do understand that it will eventually catch up in younger children, but can the same be said so for adults?  If not, what is the ideal way to make the mandible catch up to the maxilla and/or prevent this phenemonon?

Also, would palatal expansion cause a scissor bite, if done to a significant degree?  If so, what can be done to prevent this/ make the mandibular arch catch up?

I have also read some posts on various forums for using HGH to accelerate bone remodeling.
And I do expect to have results, as I only need a few millimeters (like 2 or 3) in the mandible for all teeth to fit in without crowding.

Using that logic, I have an intermolar width of 39-40 mm and I'm 17.  How likely is it that my palate has fused?  What is the genetic ideal anyway?

Nope, my regimen included heavy chewing of gum for multiple hours a day and proper tongue posture for the remainder of the day.  I would say that my condyle remodeled, but didn't expect it to be this fast.  There was one time I had pretty bad headaches, but that was because I increased the load and duration.  I have not had any form of TMJ or muscle tension since 1 year ago, and I chew more than ever, with harder loads than ever.

Why are statements from those in the orthodontic field on the midpalatal suture fusion so inconsistent?  Some say it fuses to the mid to late teens, some say by mid 30s, some say late in life, and some say that they never fuse.

Yeah now that you say this it reminds me that I used to have my right jaw click every time I opened it before I began mewing.  Now it is completely gone.  I haven't experienced it in 1 year!

What would be a major workout in this case?

I found this AMA on Reddit from this dude who made his maxillary protraction device and tested it on monkeys.  Significant results were found after 4 months, after 1kg of applied force on the maxilla.  What if we simply strengthened the tongue to exert 1kg and the muscles of mastication to exert 1 kg, to replicate the effects of this headgear?

@ Progress

How would I chew these tubes?  Do I cut it into chewing gum-like sizes?

I also hear that Dr. Mike Mew gives special gummies to his patients for treatment.
