11x0.25= about 2.75mm of expansion for you? Does this seem to be about what happened?

Typically in treatment a patient undergoing lots of expansion will have to periodically have new expanders fitted. I was told by a professional that I needed 8+mm of expansion and that it may happen with one expander or I may need two. However many people have gotten 8+mm of expansion using only a single expander, so it is possible that the impressions that you sent in were not perfect and this resulting in slipping over time. I took impressions myself and then went and got impressions taken professionally at a dental office: The difference in resolution of the palate/teeth was MASSIVE with the material the dentist used compared to the impression material sent by BrShop.

Are you attempting to expand any further, or have you decided to stop as a result of the slipping? I am currently attempting to get in touch with dental labs to see if expanders can be made cheaply and locally, would you intend to continue expansion?

I would greatly appreciate if you could post your review and the effects of the appliance there for other users who are either waiting to receive the expander or considering making an order.  I am hoping to archive a list of success stories as well as their rates of expansion/amount of expansion so that we aren't constantly losing research potential when users go away and delete posts.

Hello! Thanks for your response. Maybe it is the quality of the mold, but I honestly think it's the engineering. When my palette expands, it gains width and loses height..the mould itself does NOT lose height, so the lowering of my palate from stretching eventually comes at odds with the expanders original form. I do want to stretch more, I was planning on using up all of the turns but since I am gaining more width and the expander doesnt change, it has been pushing my front teeth forward (not visibly noticeable, but I can feel the back of my front tooth is exposed more, because there is a chip like feelings there.) I would like to get an expander that is simply the metal spanning from side to side, and not the plastic which is moulded to the exact form of your teeth and palate.I think it would allow more work to be done and effect your front teeth less.

As for being loose, do you mean against the teeth or against the palate? Because that's a big difference. If it's loose against both, I suppose you just need to expand it a bit before putting it in. If your impressions were accurate, the expander being loose could mean that your tongue posture actually expanded your palate a little bit in the weeks between making the impression and receiving the device.

The mewing feeling less effective, in my opinion, means that your body is now calling for your to change where you are applying pressure. You can feel around with your tongue what works, push like that for a long while, and eventually your body will start asking for pressure somewhere else. In a 100% developed palate/maxilla, there is a proper tongue posture. In a poorly/underdeveloped one, there is no proper tongue posture: Only various different postures which will slowly shape it into the proper position where you can hold a resting tongue posture indefinitely.

Make sure your head posture is correct too though, the position of your skull can produce like 95% of the force of mewing.

Sorry I forgot to respond to your question! After they sent the kit it took a week to get and a week to get back to them! They practically sent my finished product as soon as they got them! A three week process. All together.

It just slid off my back teeth a little. Mostly it's doing a fine job!! So you don't think having the tongue on the roof is enough? It needs to be more specific mixes of postures? What's your method?  you sound like you've been at this research for a while.

I am personally going to stick to oral posture for expansion. My incisors actually have a distinct gap between them now, whereas they used to be so tight together from braces that nothing could fit between besides floss.

I am not worried about this as I suspect the other teeth will align themselves accordingly, and the gaps will close over time.

It's all about being patient and committing to a long term solution. That being said, if you are older you may not feel this way.

I have been training in myofunctional therapy, and practicing when I remember for little over a year, I do not have that much expansion. It wouldn't be out of the question to say I forget alot. How long have you been using your tongue??

Hello everyone! I just ordered an expander from bracesshop. Part of me is a little nervous that it will get lost on the way, or there won't be instructions for me to send my impressions back. Who has bought an appliance from bracesshop? How did it go?

Progress, I can actually recall you recommending belt face pulling and towel pulling at the molars.

mid-palatal suture is far from fused? if thats the case then why do people bother getting surgery to expand their palates. Its fused its fixed, They have to split it down the middle to allow expansion its the only way.

And I've met with Mew himself in person and I talked about all this. He's almost a different person to his videos (in his vids hes all very optimistic, draws you in, salesman like, grounded by his facial growth evidence on children). When I saw him he was dismissive that changing of facial structure is very minute, nothing can be done. coming from mew himself. I dont know how much you are dedicated to this but thats enough to get it in my thick skull the amount of delusion I was in.
Its just the same oral posture mumbo jumbo he recommended. Im not denying mews oral posture, having good oral posture for the past two years gave me slow results, but then again that could have also been due to puberty, chewing hard gum and even weightlifting.
Im sorry it seems like its all a big lie, im so stupid to believe all of this. stupid to waste this much time on it. Guys other than mew giving advice are all in it for the money and what do you get? hope, false promises an xray from plato, a supposed ct scan of an old woman and some distorted photos.  The people on here who have had negative experiences dont post, probably cause of shame.
