Cranial Restructuring / Re: New information related to face-pulling
« on: September 23, 2017, 03:34:26 pm »
Progress, that's interesting, I was experiencing the same thing once I started sleeping on a flat back. However, after experiencing this for months, it really started to become a problem for me.

I believe it's because our tongue is falling into the back of our throats, therefore blocking our airway and causing a mild apnea event, which triggers a sympathetic (not parasympathetic) response from our nervous system. If we had more tongue space this probably wouldn't occur.

I stopped sleeping on a flat back, and am now using a pillow. I find that I sleep better now. Once I correct my structure using an appliance with the guidance of an orthotropist, or possibly DNA/Homeoblock practitioner I will likely revert back to pillowless sleeping.

Cranial Restructuring / Re: A Guide on Palette Expansion at home?
« on: June 15, 2017, 05:53:17 pm »
Just make sure to expand at least 1mm per week and chew hard things while expanding. Chewing hard things ensures that you not only have good muscle tone, but that your teeth are firmly rooted in your jaw as well, which reduces the chances of teeth tipping.

Great image! Referencing to my most recent post, notice how Alverez's jaw seems to be protracted (jutted forward a little bit) while his pterygoid muscles are being activated, but it doesn't actually look like he's clenching his teeth together. It just looks like he maintains a pretty high degree of tension in his jaw muscles. In contrast, Khan's jaws seem to be pretty relaxed, and he is carrying little to no tension in his pterygoid muscles. Maybe if Khan learned to position his jaw a little differently Alverez wouldn't have had such an easy time dismantling him.

Cranial Restructuring / Mandibular protraction (Don't chin tuck)
« on: April 23, 2017, 04:04:19 pm »
Check out this excellent article on TMJD. I recommend skipping past most of the article and going straight for the section titled "CORRECTIVES".

https://treningogrehab.no/true-cause-solution-temporomandibular-dysfunction-tmd/

(TLDR: Protract (bring forward) the mandible, and acctivate the pterygoid muscles (jaw muscle along the ramus area).

I started implementing the techniques on this website about two months ago. However, I was doing it incorrectly because I was activating the suprahyoid muscles, rather than the pterygoid muscles, which still gave me benefits because I was practicing mandubular protraction, but it was suboptimal. About 2-3 weeks ago I started doing what I now believe is the technique recommended in this article, and have seen undeniable improvements in my face, and more importantly in my breathing and neck posture.

Piort to this, I was practicing Mew's "Chin Tuck", but I now believe Mike Mew was completely backasswards in his recommending of this. As the article explains, mandibular retraction is BAD, and I believe that when we are chin tucking we are practicing mandibular retraction, which is causing our face to be worse. If we were to constantly chin tuck, we'd end up with a shitty lower jaw that would be constantly lodged up in our airway!! Not good for aesthetics, and not good for breathing either.

When I was chin tucking it always felt really unnatural and forced for me, but with mandibular protraction, my neck, spine, and everything else seems to naturally be coming into allignment.

I hope this makes sense to you guys, and if you feel it does, read and study the article and give it a try for a few months. Hopefully it helps you out. As far as my progress, I feel that I still have a long way to go, but I think this technique has helped bring me along further and has helped clear up some inconsistencies and gaps I found with Mew's theories.

The picture looks pretty convincing/reasonable to me. Thanks OP for posting some optimistic stuff, in contrast to the many doubters and naysayers that are out there!

I think with the multitude of tools that are continuously being discussed on these and other forums, changes like this will be achieved by many people. Eventually the positive before/after pics will mount up to such a degree that it will be impossible to deny that facial improvement is possible!

Cranial Restructuring / Re: Palate Expanders Usage

The difference is that his dental arch expanded, but his actual maxillary bone did not expand.

Here's a video with mew that might clear things up

Yes, I believe your right. Light forces merely remodel the shape of the bone. Whereas higher forces open the sutures and allow new bone to be formed within this opening. However, don't ask me to drill down into the mechanics any further than this , because we are seriously entering into territory that is beyond my pay grade.

I'm definitely no expert. But I know that Mew expands at a semi-rapid rate of about .5-1mm per week. Rapid expansion goes at about 1-2 mm per week I believe. And the DNA and homeoblock appliance people go at the ultra slow rate of about 1mm per month.

I believe the ideal is the semi-rapid rate proposed by mew. The reason you want semi-rapid rate is because you need enough force in the expander to force the sutures in the palate to separate and therefore the maxilla to expand. If you go ultra-slow you'll only get alveolar expansion, which isn't that awesome and won't create too much change from a health or aesthetic stand point.

How you measure this I have no idea. I just eyeball it and if it hurts badly I stop expanding. I would like to hear some advice from someone who's seen a professional, and I am thinking of consulting with one myself.

Mew also recommends chewing on hard stuff to ensure that you teeth are firmly rooted in the gums, so that the teeth don't tip during the expansion.

That's about all I got. I'd love to hear experiences and thoughts from other members.

Mew recently released a video on claiming power where he discusses his new face-pulling device. He showed a before and after of one of his patients that wore it for roughly 12 hours a day and the results were phenomenal. If you have to opportunity to do it for that long and have the patience to do it, I recommend trying it! I might try it myself.

If you guys want palate expanders or retainers I highly reccomend these guys http://www.bracesshop.de/Fake-Braces/Y-Plate-Upper-jaw::4.html

I bought there palate expander here in the U.S. The quality is great. It has sturdy hooks on them to face pull as well. Check em out!

MJON, your self-expansion experiment didn't work out for you? Fill us in with the deets when you get the chance. I ordered one for myself to mess around with, but I'm not expecting much. It hasn't caused any damage for you, right?

Also, try biting down on a towel with your anterior teeth only as far back as the 2nd bicuspids. This might reverse the biting with the second molars you were doing. Just a thought.

Yeah, your face actually does look a little more feminine in the after pic.

NCR might help you some, but not likely to fix your problem by itself. I would advise just get back to basics. Teeth together, lips together, tongue on the roof of the mouth. Breathe through your nose. Most facial lengthening is tied to not breathing through the nose. You might be subtly mouth breathing. If you keep your lips sealed, and breath through the nose you may find it to be uncomfortable, but just be mindful of the discomfort and continue breathing through the nose.

You seem to be very anxious about your situation, try some mindfulness meditation, it might help you out.

If you were able to f yourself up that quickly, you should be able to fix yourself equally easily. Just focus intently on the basics.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of using the belt to pull. I feel it puts too much pressure on too few teeth. If you are going to use a belt though, I recommend biting down on the back bicuspid and FRONT molar, rather than the back molar (I heard Dr. Belfor, of homeoblock, explicitly recommend this in an interview). Our back molar isn't really designed for chewing on food, its function is somewhat similar to wisdom teeth in that they help take space in the jaw, not chew on food.

Personally, I've experienced teeth pain from using the belt method. Betterbytheday's theory kind of makes sense, and just to be cautious, it probably would be a good idea to spend some time biting down with some of the more anterior teeth to get a better balance.

FWIW, I think I've had the best experience using the mouthpiece method and second to that the towel.

NCR has provided the most benefits I believe, but I think the benefits are diminishing.

Cool, thanks for the advice. I'm weary and resistant about putting my money towards practitioners too. The possibility of throwing $4,000 down the drain would be a very tough pill for me to swallow. However, this self-treatment thing hasn't been working out as well as I'd hoped it would (i'm dealing with sleep apnea type symptoms). Hopefully, homeoblock with a good practitioner will help though.
