I'm sorry I asked a question that already has a lot of posts about.

I am in the situation where I highly believe i have been living life with an undiagnosed developmental delay/learning disability.

I can see the assymetry in my face and the kind of weird shape.  In addition I have had postural and coordination problems my entire life.

Now for about 8 years I have had a tweaked back and I can't find a comfortable sleeping position which has thrown everything out of whack.  Not being able to sleep has screwed with my head much.

I have tried alot of therapies and I have to say that none actually made any improvement and none of them actually gave me an intuitive sense that it was for me.

Endonasal balloons and expanding the palate with a device actually make sense.

I really hope that I am overthinking this as a result of my brain chemistry/structure and that maybe expanding my palate increases some blood and oxygen flow and starts to change my perception of my reality and the way I feel.

I honestly believe that it is possible.  And I don't believe in diagnoses.

Thanks every one for clearing that up.  I have decided I am going to buy the expander from the website that has been posted here.

Is there any basically tips or suggestions for using that upper jaw device?  Do you wear it 24/7 or only at night?

Keep in mind the very thing someone is trying to do is improve their brain function and the simpler things are, the better because if your coming from a place of decreased brain function too much information feel impossible of making sense of.

I just did a rough measure using a tape on the outside of my mouth but aiming it at my molars, and it came out to be about 1.5 inches or 38.1 mm.

However, the root cause of the problem is never addressed-- the narrow palate.

Narrow palate is a symptom itself. It doesn't appear spontaneously. The actual root cause can vary from person to person, but for most it points towards something having gone wrong during the first months/years of development. Be it unfavourable conditions in the womb, allergic environment, deficient nutrition/energy, physical diseases or lack of physical activity... whatever disrupts the natural anatomical function is going to lead to deficient structure.

But this is just nitpicking. Having a wide palate is indeed important.

Everything said here so far is great, I agree that palette for narrow palette is commonly a good point to start. There are results of adults with device only palette expansion and many more people doing that than specific Orthotropics... I agree in first figuring out exactly what is going on in your situation and structure first :)

How would you know which one is more beneficial?

Well WE don't. You perhaps will. Everything depends on the details (how you implement facepulling, expansion etc) and your unique physical situation. It may be possible to expand the palate simultaneously while facepulling. It may also be impossible. Using a thumb to push on the palate generates the kind of force that the tongue should be generating anyways, which makes it somewhat redundant as a technique.

There are two ways to go on about improving your situation:

1) Get the anatomical function of the whole body as optimal as you can before implementing external appliances. It is possible that you won't even need anything else to get results. This is basically a risk-free approach.

2) Jump straight into facepulling and palatal expansion. Not risk free, but also a potentially faster approach.

I believe it's fully possible to achieve significantly better skull structure over time using the body's own mechanics alone, without any external appliances. Some will disagree. It's up to you. Just be careful and have some common sense. Make sure that you have the ability listen to your body. If you're analytical and intuitive you will easily figure everything out by yourself along the way.

Hi everyone I'm new here and was wondering what are difference between the two besides the method.

I mean are they targeting the same type of expansion or different?  How would you know which one is more beneficial?

Also how effective is using your thumbs to push on your upper palate?  Does that count as a version of Face pulling?

I am planning on getting cranial facial release (another similar to NCR/endonasal) and was wondering if a palatal expansion device
 would complement it.

I am new here please be patient with me, and I appreciate all your help.  I'm really tired btw.  I have chronic insomnia for years.
Thanks
