Do you just keep lips apart or stretch your mouth wide open, fully baring your teeth? You say that you're young and the transformation was fast, exactly how old are you and is the timeline we're talking of here closer to weeks or months?

Hi Progress,

I believe that open mouth chewing actives more of the masseter. When i lower my jaw without moving my lips i can feel i use less of the massester than if i had opened mt lips. Maybe I'm just more focused on chewing, like you said "I would have to consciously fight against keeping my mouth shut while chewing" , i could just be putting more energy or thought in to chewing than before because i have to lower my jaw even lower. I had been using k2 and nutrobal quite a while before i really started to really notice affects so i don't think that is it. I could just now be starting to see the impact of mewing and chewing on my face, but this was a pretty fast transformation ( keep in mind i am young). Your probably right about the displacement of force on the maxilla. The only thing i know is that it worked for me and i hope in works for you.

Hi Ryan,

LMAO L****** was starting to get too autistic (even if that's impossible). I would definitely say that the main difference now is that I feel more pressure were the frontal lobe and zygos meet slightly above the corners of my eyes. I also feel that my masseters are being worked harder; almost like they are being used in a full range of motion. Chewing with my mouth open feels like it isolates the masseter, and not involving my lips, i dont know if over using the lips might hinder foward facial growth. I still use the same amount of mastic gum like i did before at 2-3 peices at 4-5 hours ED.

It's great to hear that you've achieved so much improvement, but I think you're drawing false conclusions here. I'm going to claim staight away that whether you keep your lips together while chewing or not does in no way influence the amount of forces and their direction generated by chewing. Apart from simply chewing harder (like you speculated), there's not a single way I can see the facial mechanics working like that. It's doubtful that our ancestors ate lips apart because that goes against the natural function of mouth & jaws. With a good head posture I would have to consciously fight against keeping my mouth shut while chewing. No other mammal does this either.

I of course welcome you to convince me otherwise. In the end our only goal is to improve as much as possible.

It's a bit surprising that this is your main theory even though you admit of taking K2 and Mk-677, both of which may affect the face positively.

Keep us updated.

Hi  ginger Slayer

Thanks for sharing your results with us. Why in specific is it with mouth open? Do you really feel like you can chew less powerful with your lips together...? They both seem such different systems (lips and chwing) that i  fail, without further explanation, to see  how that impacts eachother?

Is there is a speific way you can tell us how hard you chew? It may be a bit hard to describe..but any more info would help

Also , in the 5 months you tried chewing, what are the other differences? Did you chew mastic gum back then too..and for the same amounts of time  as now?

How many hours a day do you chew now?

THanks for your info beforehand

and lol..with a name like 'schlayer'i do not have to ask which forum you are coming from

After a month of chewing with my mouth open on mastic gum, I can safely say that my face has never looked better. I had tried mewing, face-pulling, and regular chewing for about 5 months but with few noticeable results. But open mouth chewing (OMC) has already moved my maxilla forward quite a bit, almost got rid my my baggy dark circles under my eyes, a more forward grown lower jaw and chin that has become more horizontal, more chin height, better zygos, and has widened my jaw. OMC with mastic gum, i think, causes you to chew harder and pushes the maxilla up and forward. I would recommend not breathing through your mouth while chewing though as to not reinstall bad habits. And to remember to chew equally on both sides.

I think this all stems back to our ancestors who probably ate wit their mouths open on tough foods and who had amazing bone structures. It wasn't till manners came along and told people to eat with their mouths closed and on soft food that faces really started to decay.

Keep in mind that I'm taking calcium,magnesium,D3,K2,melatonin,niacin,zinc, and Mk-677(Nutrobal) so you might achieve different results than I did.
