alternating sides, with 2+ layers of finger cots.

That would be interesting!

Work has gotten very busy and I've missed the past couple days in a row. I have decided to take an extended break now and then resume later when I have more free time for shorter, more intensive courses. Maybe next month I will try a one week series treating ever day, alternating sides, with 2+ layers of finger cots.

Day 18: I treated both sides, still reusing the same medium finger cot, while lying down.

Did a better job last night

Glad to hear you're getting the knack of it!

Did a better job last night as went light headed slightly n tear eyed after it and i know the feeling of it due to me having had it done by a practioner, as u say it helps to push it fars it will go wen its inflated slightly in the meatus and then slowly inflate and pinch your nose to prevent build up in the cavity, its learning curve i guess, oddly addictive after it too.

Need help, am doing everything right but everytime i inflate the balloon the pressure starts to build outside of my nose as opposed to in the turbinate

It sounds to me like you are inflating too much too soon.

Insert the empty finger cot as far as you can into the meatus (between the turbinates). Inflate gradually (less than a full squeeze each time), while pushing into the nose and slightly twisting with the sphygmomanometer bulb. It also helps to hold the sides of your nose with your other hand to prevent expansion within the nasal vestibule. Once you feel the balloon advance past the turbinates into the nasopharynx, rapidly squeeze the bulb fully several times until you feel expansion across both sides of your face, then release the valve and withdraw the balloon.

Need help, am doing everything right but everytime i inflate the balloon the pressure starts to build outside of my nose as opposed to in the turbinate, think am using wrong size cot as its my turbinate as far as i can, so i may need small cots so ill order these now too as well as large.

Day 17: Today I treated only the right side, reusing the same medium finger cot from the past couple days, while lying down.

has anyone had a balloon burst inside the nose and what are the dangers and how to prevent, was thinkink of wrapping 2 cots together to thicken it ie stronger

You can see my conversation with MJON about the finger cots popping above. The only time it happened to me was when I had reused the same finger cot for several days in a row. It ruptured near the bottom close to where it was attached to the valve rather than up inside my nose. It was slightly startling, but otherwise insignificant. When I first started, I tried using two layers of finger cots. The idea is that it is supposed to allow for more pressure. Ben writes of professional treatments "they build the force up in the nasal passage until the balloon essentially explodes into the upper throat/sphenoid." Since the self-treatment strategy is more gradual and doesn't rely on such intense expansion, I've just been using one finger cot, and I think I'll finish out this first month using just one. After some time off, I might try a shorter series of treatments and see if using 2+ layers of finger cots will give me more pressure.

Yeah it wouldnt go in all the way to the back where the empty space is and some of the balloon started comin bk out and inflating just outside of my nose, am sure its technique too though so once i have the large cots ill try them by wiggling them in more with a bit of air in them n then inflate, has anyone had a balloon burst inside the nose and what are the dangers and how to prevent, was thinkink of wrapping 2 cots together to thicken it ie stronger

Thanks Reeno I will have to see if I can get them off Ebay because I live in the UK.

I don't think they are anything special, and they were relatively expensive for a small box, but I decided to just get what I could find at the local pharmacy so I wouldn't have to wait for them to be delivered. When I run out, I might order something different.

i attempted a go last nite but unfortunatelu the cots are too small as and not goin all way in so ive ordered large cots

I think it was advantageous to have a box of assorted sizes while learning the technique. When I first started I couldn't reach the nasopharynx even with the large size. Now that I know what I'm doing, I can reach even with the small size. I've decided medium is probably best for me since it seems to provide good expansion within the nasopharynx without being so long as to extend down into the oropharynx.

Yeah once i get another £400 i would do yes, and i think its somewhat imporyant to at least have one series if your attempting this on your own as youll be familar with what it feels like, i attempted a go last nite but unfortunatelu the cots are too small as and not goin all way in so ive ordered large cots, its not a requirement obviously to have it professionally done bt i think it helps as youll them know what to feel for and it isnt that dissimilar to what Ben describes, and my practioner used large cots btw.

Thanks Reeno I will have to see if I can get them off Ebay because I live in the UK. No Mine haven't popped the first time I use them so I think it will be wise to use a different one for each set.
Thank you Allnicc12, I've been told it's expensive but I suppose you do get more professional results. Did you get the results you were hoping for and would you have it done professionally again?

The person i got my first series from lives in Manchester and has been taught by Dr Howell whilst in the US, i got put onto him because i couldnt travel down to London to see Ian for four consequtive days in a row due to costs, it felt good to be honest as your given deep tissue bodywork before hand to relax you and then the testing followed by the balloons, you need to be relaxed in order for the sutures and connections to loosen etc, one series costs £400 so its not cheap.

Day 16: Today I treated only the left side and reused the same medium finger cot from yesterday, while standing up.

Also reeno, what brand of cots are you using? I've popped mine around three times now (Although I must admit it wasn't as bad as I was expecting)!

I bought a box of the CVS brand finger cots in assorted sizes. I've only had one rupture on me when I had reused the same large-size finger cot for multiple days in a row. It seems like they stretch out with repeated use. Even the medium size I used today felt larger than when I had used it yesterday and was more prone to expanding down into the oropharynx. Did yours pop during the first session that you used them?

Allnicc12 I'm from the UK and would eventually like to have some professional NCR treatments to help my progress along, and to know fully what it's supposed to feel like. Do you mind sharing the details from the NCR you received? Including cost? Also reeno, what brand of cots are you using? I've popped mine around three times now (Although I must admit it wasn't as bad as I was expecting)!
