Yo.

The Tongue used properly is more than sufficient for expansion, it must be emphasied thou that adult bones are much more resilient to growth as opposed to a teenagers.
Youll know when your doing this right as you will feel slight discomfort/pressure in your ears from the pushing.
Changes from this may only be 1 or 2mm and may take upwards of 3+ years in an adult, i know this because ive gained 1mm in 2 years and am 37 yrs old, it works and takes time.
Why use the tongue when you could just buy an expander? I'm closing in on 8 mm on my expander and it's only been a month and a half.
Expander's force is only sideways plus I have this theory and am kinda standing behind it, that expander makes faces flatter, because it lacks forward pushing force, like for example you open a book.

Because my maxilla has expanded adequently as it is bein nearly 58mm in width ( from middle of molar surface to other molar ) but even with that id like more particularly more forward growth.
If i bought an expander id likely need a retainer bt i aint the first clue how id do this with supervision from an ortho n no ortho would help me with my upper archs width already suffcient.
Am kind of stuck in position that id like more forward growth bt no ortho wud help me and bit wearly of attemptin meself in case i **** up, like i say your tongue will do it anyways jus slower for me.

I'm glad to hear about your results, I hope the improvement has been great for your health. Definitely feel that pressure in my ears when I mew, usually by around 6PM every day.

No doubt that the skull will change shape over time with correct force, I am looking for ways in which to speed the process up for adults. Have you done any NCR/endonasal?

Although it makes complete sense that the skull's shape SHOULD only change slowly (Rapid change would cause issues) I don't see why the body couldn't adapt to ~2-3mm a year of changes here. I have heard claims of up to 5mm maxilla advancement with NCR and facepulling (unverified, via the Orgoneproducts website IIRC).

On top of mewing/tongue posture are you trying anything else?

I feel that my tongue is producing great force, but as with all things that take time I am beseiged with doubt. Is the tongue enough to produce results, or does one need to facepull/use a palate expander. What are your opinions? As anyone seen results with mewing and NCR together?

I'm in the process of attempting to produce structural changes without using anything else than the body's own anatomical function. Like you, I've achived SOME palatal expansion with the tongue, so the real question is: are significant results achievable without appliances and devices? It should be. I strongly believe so. I've been in contact with people who claim to have experienced improved skeletal symmetry and structure after getting the whole body into anatomical & functional harmony and alignment by fixing postural imbalances. While there's no way to know if these people are telling the truth, what they talk about makes sense. In a sense, the skeleton adapts to the forces generated by the surrounding musculature. Having lacking range of motion anywhere in the posterior or anterior chain forces the skeleton into positions that aren't "neutral", meaning that the body can't and doesn't neutralize its own pull against itself (kind of like pushing a fragile tower with equal forces from opposing sides results in zero movement). A straight body stands effortlessly and gracefully just by keeping the correct muscles active, whereas a body with limited range of motion has to forcibly fight against the pull of gravity. So the postural chain has to compensate in some way. And then this compensation has to be compensated in another way and so on. Eventually you get a posture that is imbalanced all the way from the head to the toes.

In other words, everything has to work in unison, because one weak link will compromise the function of the whole chain. The tongue is only one link in chain. In fact, I will go as far as saying that awareness of the tongue is IRRELEVANT when everything else is about your posture is working well. If you feel like you NEED to focus on the tongue in order to maintain the tongue posture, the actual problem lies somewhere else, like tight hips or forward head.

Likewise, if you suddenly stop achieving results, there's probably tightness somewhere in the postural chain that is preventing further progress. A loose and relaxed musculature leads to less resistance.

To end with a question: Are you able to feel the lower wings of the sphenoid bone above your soft palate, behind the hard palate / wisdom teeth? Would you say that your tongue pushes against these wings during mewing, or solely against the hard palate?

If I have progress, this forum will hear about it
Wish you the best and looking forward to hearing from you.

I have been using the pressure of my tongue for about a year, I can push with sufficient pressure to actually feel it in my cheekbones. When pushing my tongue outward at both sides, the teeth begin to hurt in the same way that I am told braces do, indicating sufficient force. The right side of my maxilla is lower than the left (also evidenced by the right eye being lower), and when I mew hard I feel it entirely on the right side including under the eye and near the hairline - meaning the tongue pressure IS being transferred through the skull

I do believe I am getting results, but they are slow, and I think this is a result of the facial bones resisting movement against other bones (I can feel tension along the sutures around the face and cheekbones when I push hard all day).

Thus, I will be going in for NCR which should remove this roadblock and allow the upward and forward movement of the maxilla which I seek, and well as rotation to fix the assymmetry

I feel that my tongue is producing great force, but as with all things that take time I am beseiged with doubt. Is the tongue enough to produce results, or does one need to facepull/use a palate expander. What are your opinions? As anyone seen results with mewing and NCR together?

I have an underbite as well, so my tongue is balled up and able to apply even more force than if I had an overbite or normal alignment
