Hello, I had my two upper wisdom teeth removed about 17 months ago and since then my face has changed dramatically, definitely the worst decision I've made yet. I got them removed thinking I had to for braces to correct an overbite. Knowing what I know now, I never had to do that. I have an overbite/deepbite and wanted to get it corrected, big mistake. I figured, at the time, all of this was no big deal, since so many people do this. If I would have just researched a little I could have saved myself so much heart ache, stress and money. I began correcting my deepbite with invisalign and the ortho started changing the angle of the lowers before moving the uppers out of the way, which forced my lower jaw too far back, so now I have tmj along with the facial changes. My jaw functioned perfectly prior to all of this, even with a deepbite. I then switched to braces and the tmj has seemed to improve, but have lost my faith in traditional orthodontics. I have switched to a functional ortho that specializes in tmj to see if he can help me. Such a nightmare, I would give anything to go back to my original face and overbite. Luckily im not that far along in treatment, otherwise things would have been even harder to correct. Anyways, im at a loss now as you can tell, im just praying the functional ortho can help. It seems my mid face has sunken in a bit, which has changed the overall shape of my face. It looks longer and more oval shaped and is no longer symmetrical, I lost the shape of my jaw. I have thought about getting dental implants to replace my wisdom teeth to prevent further bone resorption and to possibly provide support by stimulating bone growth, but no one seems to want to do that and they think im crazy for asking. The implants would have to be in the exact place as the wisdom teeth though, it may just make things worse, idk. Sorry so long.
Do you think face pulling would help in my situation?
Also NCR?
Unfortunately the only NCR practitioner closest to me is a 4.5 hour drive away, wish more were trained, there doesn't seem to be that many around.
