Tongue Confined?
« on: June 08, 2017, 10:58:58 pm »
It's been six months of mewing and for the first time, this weird thing happened to my senses.

I literally feel my tongue is restricted by my palette. Not from a mental standpoint. Not from a bunched up standpoint. It feels like claustrophobia - like a foot bonding. It's the oddest thing! Almost like I can sense what it needs to be. Anyone else have this happen?

Yes, every now and then I feel like the function of my tongue kind of levels up. I think that it takes a certain amount of time and effort to cultivate enough awareness to become able to sense the tongue well, in the similar  way as it may take weeks of meditative practice for someone to become able to focus on the sensatrions of an individual toe. It took me over a year to become confident in my ability to listen to my tongue, along with building the courage to just let it be as it wants to be without having to check its position all the time.

Tongue is not a muscle that is usually brought to anyone's awareness, especially if you already have a well developed face and a functional body. Good overall fitness makes palate the natural place for tongue and everything will work like it should. But if you have years upon years of dysfunctional use stored into your nervous system, it is going to take a while untangle that mess.

I have also noticed that how easily the tongue finds the palate and the body stays in a controlled posture is very dependent on how much energy my diet provides. The stronger my metabolism has a chance to be, the more automatic good tongue and body posture becomes. Weak metabolism combined with chronic caloric deficit doesn't produce enough energy and hormones to support postural functions very well. That's a good consideration for those of you who're vegans or unpassionate eaters.

For the vegan stuff, I've studied foods lately and found this combo on a budget:
Lentils, quinoa, hemp protein (only while  protein that's healthy!), coconut milk, steamed veggies, fresh fruit, and going wheat, oil, and soy-free super good! Enough calories, on a budget, with adequate protein. It's possible ;) but I have to eat big meals each time, not just salads or oatmeal or whatever

It's hardly worthwhile to start a discussion about my disagreements with the details of your diet, but if you have a general idea of your daily micro and macronutritional intake, you're already very well off.
