My NCR photo testimonial
« on: June 14, 2012, 03:17:02 pm »
Hello everyone,

I'm not much of a picture person, maybe it was ingrained in me from when my face/skull/body used to be so messed up. So I don't have a lot of pictures to choose from.  However, I will continue to update this site with more pictures when I get the time to go scrolling back through the hundreds that are on my computer (most not of me, or weird ones of me in the background somewhere).

None of these are professional quality but I really don't care, I just want to give a quick visual demo on how dramatically this therapy can improve appearance (and more importantly, overall functionality).

The first pic here is painful to look at, this was me after 4 or 5 sessions (20 treatments) of NCR.  My face got like this due to the bad car accident I was in and birth trauma as well. Looks like I got hit in the face with baseball bat several times

The second picture is me recently (about 10 months of treatment later) I'm not smiling so you can see the structure more easily.

Third picture isn't great but again, displays the structural improvement.  I'm sorry I cannot afford a camera right now for better pictures.

Prior to treatments I had these problems:

Bruxism (teeth grinding)
Tinnitus
Restless leg syndrome
Nervous system problems
Vertigo
Blocked airflow/poor breathing
Narrow ribcage
Chronic neckaches/headaches
Terrible posture
Severe brain fog

ALL of these problems went away.  I can honestly say I am completely symptom free, and feeling very healthy and happy every day thanks to this therapy and the other changes I've made to my lifestyle.  As you all may know, I don't write this website to tell YOU what to do, but to tell you what works for me.

Hope you're all doing well,
Ben

I expect I'll keep improving until I hit somewhere close to the correct facial proportions.  I don't so much care to look any better, at this point. I'm satisfied, I just want to allow my body to function as well as it can.  Besides, this therapy is so absurdly easy once you get the hang of it, takes none of my time at all.  Why not continue? :)

Good pictures, good quality.
If you want us to be able to compare them better you could upload larger version of second and third picture.

What I noticed is only that your eyes are more apart on second and third picture,

your nose was going from top left to bottom right on first picture (no symmetry),
on second and third picture your nose changed direction, going from top right to bottom left (also no symmetry)... How come such big inversion and what does it mean, and do you plan to make it perfectly straight?

Is there anything else to notice on the picture.

P.S. My natural response after looking at pictures: It was pleasing to look at your face in picture 2,3 and not as pleasing to look at picture 1. Don't know why, just natural response to picture.

My nose is going from top right to top left in the second picture because my head is tilted.

Yeah, looking at the first picture is displeasing to me too.  We're biologically programmed to see asymmetry as "bad" or ugly, partly because it's difficult for our brains to process.  We should take our perception more seriously rather than sweep it under the rug but I suppose we do this to make people who have been damaged their whole lives feel better about themselves, because we don't know how to treat them or help them.

Dam, its so funny to look at your before and after face.
On the later pictures your eyes somehow look much wiser.
Makes me think about a lot of things about my perception %)

haha yep, it's amazing that traits we think are inherent to "the person" or "the being" are actually dependent upon the structure of the face and skull.  A tall narrow face tends to make you think the person is high-strung, anxious, intellectual...  And funny enough, they are more likely to be all of those traits!

Our perceptions are usually correct, it's our filters that distort it.

But I actually did make almost all of the challenging emotional changes I've been through between when that first picture was taken and the last two, so maybe I did become wiser! haha

Hi Ben, First up thank you for starting this great forum and helping to get the information public. I've been planning on getting NCR treatments for several years but due to location and finances I keep putting it off. There is only one practitioner in my city and I feel I'd have better luck waiting till I travel overseas to try it.  I have two questions to ask:

First, how important is the correct bodywork and positioning for a successful treatment? I have noticed on online demonstrations that lifting up and holding the leg of the opposing treated nasal cavity seems pretty common. I'm guessing that it helps to open up more space? as much as raising of the arms and the tilting angle of the head jaw and neck? I ordered Dean Howell's book and am hoping that it clears up some of these questions.

Secondly, how did you deal with the changes and reactions of the people that you know? Your results are tremendous, but way beyond what the standard 4-12 sessions could achieve (in most people). I like the changes you got in the length of your jawline and the relationship of eyes to brow... You almost look like a totally different person!

Hi Ben,

I'm contacting you from the UK.  I have been seeing a dentist here called Dr Amir in Putney for 4 months I believe he may have treated the tanned young guy  you featured in one of your threads.  .. A potted history I am 36 years old and have been on and off anti-depressant meds since I was in a bad accident aged 17.  These were prescribed initially by a counsellor but over the last 4 years they have been administered by the eastman dental hospital  in London to dampen my pain receptors' to tmj symptoms.  I have narrow face and nose running from top left to bottom right  I use nasal sprays and allergy tablets year round, otherwise alternate nasal passage block up when I am trying to sleep. I presented to DR Amir with acute pain around the jaw joints, persistent head and neck tension, inability to sleep or rest fitfully on the right hand side (recently compounded by a right shoulder ligament tear), sphenoid misalignment and fatigue.
I am approaching four months treatment with Dr Amir and am at a crossroads that I am hoping you may be able to help with. I am still wearing a removeable expandable upper brace and lower brace that is intended to create spaces between the teeth. This will eventually straighten them with the purpose of bringing my lower jaw forward and putting less pressure on the back of my bite.  Problem is my facial symmetry and hence my symptoms are worse now than when I began treatment when I mention this to Dr Amir he advises I hang in there things will get better. Looking at the parallels with your pictures and history I would be grateful if you could share your NCR suggestion with me because I think I can benefit massively. PFA recent picture of me ...Please make sure you are not eating when you view!

Cheers

Raj

Bodywork is not important at all, but it likely increases the result and maximizes the treatment effect for that day. Essentially it just prepares the body and connective tissue throughout the skull and head to "unwind" or release adhesions and change more easily after the treatment.  The doctors also do some cranial manipulation to loosen the sutures and allow the sphenoid to move a little bit more easily. This sort of thing is more important if it's your first time doing the treatment.

In my opinion you would benefit just as much by doing some running then some yoga prior to a treatment in terms of maximizing effectiveness.

I'm guessing that it helps to open up more space? as much as raising of the arms and the tilting angle of the head jaw and neck? I ordered Dean Howell's book and am hoping that it clears up some of these questions.

This technique was developed by Dr. Howell (actually it was borrowed I think) out of his theory that there are particular areas of the skull that are most "unstable" and most willing to change. The way I understand it, practitioners contort the body to "target" the specific most unstable areas of the sphenoid and body. Doing this also allows the sphenoid to move more gracefully and easily towards their aim. This, along with the proprioceptive testing (the balance test that allows them to make the determination of where instability is located) again maximizes the speed of results.  So treatment per treatment, NCR may be superior to bilateral nasal specific, my method, or other methods.  It's possible but my self-treatments propelled me along the same rate of improvement as my 8th-27th treatments (at first results were bigger cause my skull was so messed up, way more than most people).

Haha... interesting question. Some of my family say things like "wow, you look good benjamin!" But others, like my mom and dad simply edit the old pictures of my from their mind and assume the way I look now is the way I've always looked because they were both in the medical field and do not like having their belief systems challenged.  They DO know my face/skull was messed up from birth, since they agreed with my aunt who'd call me "Mr. Magoo" (image search google). Also because my mom was responsible for the really bad car accident where my head smashed through the windshield and she doesn't like to think it caused these problems because I was told by her not to get this therapy. I've got nothing but love for them and all of these challenges helped me get to where I am today, it's all just a part of this unique little path I've been wandering down.

My brother laughs and says things like "ben, your head IS smaller!  how did your head shrink?" and these sorts of things. (my head used to be huge because it was squeezed in the middle like a toothpaste tube and had burst out towards the back/top of the skull like an alien or mr magoo)

As for my friends, they're all very much "in the matrix" you see...  So they'll agree and go "Wow, ben, you look so different! you look good!" but when I tell them what I did, they go "is that really possible?" and try to change the subject and quickly forget about it. People living in the program aren't ready to accept that this much change is possible, they would rather go about their mundane lives thinking it isn't. That's just the nature of the program I suppose.

Of course, for someone like me who used to be fairly ugly to now being fairly good looking, it's quite a transition seeing the response of people in my daily life.  Just walking to a grocery store, people staring at me sometimes. It's so ingrained in me to think I'm a little ugly that I sort of nod my head down  and check if I've got snot or drool running down my face or a giant zit growing off my eyelid, because why else would they look?

I am sorry to hear that. I'm not sure if Dr. Amir treated the guy in the thread, is he doing face pulling on you essentially? If only you could hear the sheer number of people who go through these exact syndromes due to a car accident.  It's really tragic and practically nobody tells you this is one of the consequences of hitting your head (down the road, you'll be suffering!!!) guess it's not a very optimistic thing to be told. I can tell by your pictures that you'd benefit from the therapy though- your structure has similarities to mine prior to treatment - although, you can't see in the first picture but I had an alien-grey forehead (like, the whole top of my head bulged out... used to be very self conscious).

Well, I'll share with you the method and everything just email me at bstratt25@gmail.com

Hey Ben I sent you an email. Since i turned 35 I've noticed changes in my skull that have been quite hard to pinpoint, and I am someone who is usually aware of every change. Ive got a low, sloping forehead with"neanderthallic" brow ridges. My septum is deviated slightly and Ive had some mild head trauma/spinal issues . My major dental problems were treated with extraction orthodontics recently. Have got a family history of jaw problems and TMJ. I am happy with how the orthodontic treatment has gone, at least esthetically, my bite is good but I feel that the treatment has disrupted my sphenoid somehow.

I am impressed with how you were able to make peace with your past and turn it all around Ben. The results are very inspiring!

And I'm glad that people have not been confrontational about it even though some people cannot be supportive of change. It's funny how people can turn around to pat themselves on the backs if the results are pleasing enough though.

Hi Ben and all,

I'm glad to see this forum and thread.  So I just joined and wanted to chime in about my 2nd NCR session.

I know Ben has seen before and afters of my first session, but it's been nearly two weeks after my second and I wanted to post pics for all to see.

Dr. Hillary Lampers, ND is the NCR doctor that performed mine.

More cheekbone prominence, palate moved forward some more, upper and low teeth meet now, and I unwound enough and gained an inch in height.

The following in progression (left to right) is before any NCR, after 1st session, and after 2nd session. I lined up all lines the best I could using screen shot and Windos Paint program...
